Mount Fuji snowless for longest time on record after sweltering Japan summer
Briefly

Japan's weather agency reported that Mount Fuji remained snowless on Tuesday, marking the latest date since records began in 1894. The previous record was 26 October.
Yutaka Katsuta, a forecaster at Kofu Local Meteorological Office, explained that high temperatures this summer persisted into September, deterring cold air and delaying snowfall.
This year's summer in Japan was the joint hottest on record, influenced by climate change, which may also be impacting the delay in Mount Fuji's snowcap.
Despite being a popular hiking destination, fewer climbers tackled Mount Fuji this year due to a new entry fee and limits on daily visitor numbers to combat overtourism.
