This October marks the first time in recorded history that Mount Fuji has gone without snow, attributed to soaring temperatures attributable to climate change.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, 'Because of the fact that high temperatures in Japan have been continuing since the summer and as it has been raining, there has been no snowfall.'
The Japan Weather Association added that a weather change is expected soon, saying, 'Cold air will move in and change from rain to snow near the summit.'
This year, Japan experienced its hottest summer and second-hottest September on record, strongly indicating the influence of climate change on seasonal weather patterns.
