Naas Gardaí operated a speed check point on the R445 in Naas on Friday, January 3, when they spotted a motorist travelling over double the speed limit at 129kmh in a 60kmh zone in "freezing temperatures."
The driver also tested positive for cannabis and cocaine and was arrested as a result. Gardaí added that the motorist was also found to be in possession of his driving licence which he failed to surrender when originally disqualified.
This driver was charged with dangerous driving, no insurance, no driving licence and failing to surrender their driving licence. The car was also impounded.
An additional charge of driving while under the influence of drugs will also be added to the list of charges once the results of the blood tests are analysed.
