Mostly British Film Festival showcases global cinema, including Palestine-set thriller
Briefly

The Mostly British Film Festival in San Francisco is a celebration of diversity, featuring films from various cultures including Palestine, India, and Spain. Programmer Maxine Einhorn emphasized the festival's role in highlighting the rich tapestry of the Commonwealth. Notable events include appearances by 'Downton Abbey' star Hugh Bonneville and screenings of acclaimed films like 'Memoir of a Snail' and 'Shoshana,' which tackles themes of love amidst political strife. Einhorn sees the festival's multicultural programming as a delightful opportunity rather than a challenge, showcasing the vibrancy of global cinema.
We have such a rich tapestry in the Commonwealth. We program films from Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, and India. So I don't see it as a challenge, but more of a delight.
It's so prescient and also so poignant in the way violence and political turmoil impact personal relationships. Also, the star, Douglas Booth, is incredibly handsome.
