The UNHCR describes the situation in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo as one of the world’s most alarming humanitarian crises, with over 230,000 displaced this year alone due to escalating violence.
Eujin Byun, UNHCR spokesperson, indicated that the conflict has led to severe human rights violations and massive forced displacement, intensifying the crisis further with 150,000 people fleeing their homes early in January.
