More on Santander
Briefly

The Blue Jays recently signed Anthony Santander to a five-year, $92 million deal, which included an opt-out after three years and a sixth-year option. While the deal is projected to improve the team by 2-3 wins this season, there are doubts regarding its long-term effectiveness, especially as Santander is expected to transition to a designated hitter role in the later years. Concerns persist about other roster decisions, including the future of George Springer, whose recent performance may lead the team to reconsider their investment in him.
I was afraid this was going to happen: After multiple free-agent pursuits that saw the Blue Jays come up short, they finally landed a big name ... but it took a huge overpay to do it.
They gave Anthony Santander a five-year, $92 million deal, with player options and deferred money and other bells and whistles, a deal that should certainly make them 2-3 wins better this year, but that I really doubt is going to age well at all.
