The 33-year-old inmate was discovered at 8:46 p.m. Sunday and was later pronounced dead at a hospital on Wednesday. This tragic event marks the ninth in-custody death in Santa Clara County this year.
Sheriff's spokesperson Brooks Jarosz confirmed that the deceased was booked on drug-related charges and had been under the influence at the time of his arrest on November 15.
Authorities from the sheriff's office, district attorney, and medical examiner are thoroughly investigating the case, despite initial findings indicating that foul play is unlikely.
