Members of the National TPS Alliance have been striking for a week, requesting the Biden administration extend Temporary Protected Status for migrants facing imminent deportation.
'We are aware of the threats that are coming from the Trump administration [...] The hunger strike is to apply pressure and demand that Biden take action before Christmas,' said Jose Palma.
'TPS allows migrants who cannot return home due to danger to remain in the US, but its elimination under Trump poses great risks to over 600,000 immigrants.'
The hunger strike coincided with International Migrants Day and reflects ongoing efforts from groups like FIRM, emphasizing the urgency amid changing political landscapes.
