Microsoft Edge now has an AI-powered scareware blocker
Briefly

Microsoft has launched a scareware blocker for its Edge browser, designed to protect users from scams and emerging threats. The feature employs a local AI-driven machine learning model that utilizes computer vision to analyze full-screen pages against thousands of known scams. When a threat is identified, Edge promptly exits the full-screen mode, halts any audio, and alerts the user with a thumbnail preview. Users can also report the site for it to be added to Microsoft's Defender SmartScreen, enhancing its database of known scam sites. This feature is now available for users to enable in the privacy settings of Edge.
The scareware blocker uses a machine learning model that runs on the local computer, comparing full screen pages to thousands of scam samples.
Once a scam has been detected, Edge will automatically exit full screen mode, stop audio playback, and warn you.
