Meta to scrap fact checkers and some hate speech rules as Mark Zuckerberg says he and Donald Trump will go to war against EU

Mr. Zuckerberg articulated that the election of Donald Trump represents a cultural "tipping point," which necessitates changes in Meta’s operations, particularly to align with the new political landscape in the U.S. and address the challenges posed by EU laws.

Acknowledging the trade-offs involved, Zuckerberg admitted that this shift might result in the platform catching "less bad stuff," while simultaneously leading to fewer innocent postings by users being erroneously removed, signifying a complex balancing act ahead.

Mr. Zuckerberg emphasized his willingness to collaborate with President Trump, stating explicitly, "We're going to work with President Trump to push back on governments around the world... that are going after American companies and pushing to censor more."

He criticized the previous U.S. administration’s censorship tendencies, claiming that the last four years were "difficult" due to governmental pressures and that Trump’s election heralded a chance to reestablish free expression.
