Mel's, the Wood-Fired Pizzeria From Del Posto Vets, Is Done
Briefly

Mel's, a wood-fired pizzeria that opened in March 2022, will close by January 31, 2025, as stated in an Instagram announcement. The restaurant, led by chef Melissa Rodriguez and partner Jeff Katz, has thrived with community support but seeks to relocate. Acknowledging the bittersweet closure, the management expresses gratitude and invites patrons for a final meal. The space will be utilized for private events while they search for a new home. The restaurant is known for offering a casual and hearty pizza experience, rather than focusing on high-end artisanal styles.
Dear West Chelsea and NYC, it's been an incredible journey since we opened our doors on March 9, 2022. While it's bittersweet to announce Mel's will close after service on January 31, 2025, we are deeply thankful for your love and support. Your enthusiasm made every day unforgettable.
This isn't the end of Mel's - it's just a new chapter. While we search for the perfect home to relaunch, the space will be available for private buyouts and special events in the interim.
Mel's rolled out with the short-lived, two-Michelin-starred Al Coro next door in the former Del Posto space. Mel's is located in what at one time was the John Dory, and later, private dining for Del Posto.
Mel's isn't where you go to experience the apotheosis of artisanal Neapolitan or Roman baking. This is where you go for hot clams, cold beer, good pizza.
