A recent exposé revealed that Meghan Markle's former Spotify employees used the nickname 'Eva' for her as a warning sign of her mood, reminiscent of Joan Crawford's character in 'Queen Bee'. The employees described their experiences with her as painful and likened her behavior to that of a 'Mean Girls' teenager. Despite the tensions, Markle was reportedly unaware of the nickname. The podcast she hosted, 'Archetypes', produced a disappointing 12 episodes over two and a half years, leading to the end of her $20 million contract with Spotify in June 2023.
Ex-staff members told me they decided to christen her 'Eva' and this was used as a warning signal to let people know that she was either arriving or on the warpath.
The nickname came from the 1955 camp classic 'Queen Bee' starring the ultimate diva herself - Joan Crawford. This is because, like the Joan character [Eva Phillips], she stung her victims to pieces.
Markle, 43, 'had no idea about' the Crawford-inspired nickname.
One of Markle's former Spotify employees called her a 'Mean Girls' teenager while describing the 'awful' and 'painful' experience at Spotify.
