Philip Esformes, 56, a notable Medicare fraudster previously given clemency by Donald Trump, was arrested for a domestic violence incident involving threats and property damage.
Charged with tampering with a witness and criminal mischief, Esformes allegedly smashed a vacuum cleaner and threatened his wife after a family dispute over his behavior.
In 2019, Esformes was convicted for a massive health care fraud scheme, netting $37 million through fraudulent claims totaling over $1 billion, before receiving clemency.
Following the clemency, the DOJ attempted to retry Esformes on previously deadlocked counts, ultimately leading to a guilty plea to conspiracy to commit health care fraud.
