Marhefka explained, "The boat pulled up and they were on the boat maybe 30 minutes at the dock and we noticed what sounded like fire alarms going off. When we looked at the boat we did see some smoke inside the boat. We made the determination to evacuate the boat immediately."
Witnesses described the scene as shocking, with one stating the fire was "unexpected" and that she had never seen "anything like this," emphasizing the suddenness and magnitude of the blaze.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue highlighted the challenges posed by the yacht's size and fuel load, noting that more than 30 units were dispatched in response to extinguish the growing inferno.
Following the extinguishing of the fire, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue worked to mitigate environmental damage by employing specialized equipment, stating they used an oil-absorbent boom to limit fuel runoff.
