Mark Cavendish has officially announced his retirement after a remarkable career, concluding his professional cycling journey after the Tour de France Prudential Singapore Criterium.
Cavendish reflected on his career, stating, "I am lucky enough to have done what I love for almost 20 years and I can say I have achieved everything that I can on the bike."
Known as the Manx Missile, Cavendish achieved a record 35 stage wins at the Tour de France, beating the previous record held by cycling legend Eddy Merckx.
Cavendish is proud of his legacy, emphasizing, "I love the sport and I've always wanted to make a difference in it and that will not change whether I am on the bike or not."
