Marin County will open its emergency shelter in response to forecasted storms, beginning Monday at 5 p.m., to accommodate residents affected by severe weather conditions.
The National Weather Service indicates that rising rain levels and cooling temperatures are driving the decision to provide emergency shelter ahead of the incoming storms.
Meteorologist Joe Merchant noted that Marin County could see significant rainfall, with predictions of up to 2 inches on the coast and gusts reaching 40 to 45 mph.
The emergency shelter, operated by Episcopal Community Services, will be available overnight on Monday, with further storms expected to impact the area throughout the week.
