From their perspective, Halloween is spiritually dangerous: a gateway drug that can lead to full-on devil worship. However, my church embraces Halloween by inviting local children for fun activities.
Hating Halloween seems like an own goal for an organisation already struggling to attract younger people. The festival now provides an opportunity for children to dress up, eat sweets, and enjoy late-night festivities.
Few Christians today would support a Scrooge-like policy against Christmas celebrations, showing that the attitude of fundamentalism has evolved, especially regarding modern festivities like Halloween.
Once, puritans even outlawed Christmas celebrations from 1647 to 1660. Halloween should be seen as an opportunity for fun, not a spiritual threat.
