On 22 November, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced the return of nearly $500,000 worth of antiquities to Mexico, part of looting and trafficking investigations.
Bragg emphasized that the pieces returned today reflect the depth and beauty of this ancient cultural heritage. He reaffirmed a commitment to track down remaining looted items.
Mexican acting consul general Joaquín Pastrana Uranga stated that the return of the artefacts demonstrates a profound commitment to justice and cultural preservation for Mexico.
Over Bragg's tenure, nearly 2,100 antiquities were recovered from 39 countries, displaying an ongoing effort in combating antiquities trafficking and promoting cultural heritage.
