James Howells, a computer expert, is contemplating buying a landfill site in South Wales where he believes a lost bitcoin fortune is buried. This decision follows a high court ruling against him allowing a search for a hard drive he lost in 2013, which contains a stash of 600 million dollars in bitcoin. The council plans to close this site and has secured permission for a solar farm, increasing the urgency of Howells' situation. Despite previous attempts to retrieve the hard drive, the council insists it has ownership over the lost drive.
If Newport city council would be willing, I would potentially be interested in purchasing the landfill site as is... this option is very much on the table.
Howells described how in the summer of 2013 he accidentally put the hard drive... in a black bag during an office sort-out and left it in the hall of his house.
