RSPCA officials highlighted the severe neglect by stating, "The dog was tethered to a tree without access to adequate shelter or a dry resting area during the month of December." This neglect led to the dog's death from starvation.
A vet assessed the situation noting, "While some of the dog's poor body condition may be attributed to the parasitic worms, they on their own would not have caused that degree of emaciation, which leads to the conclusion that the dog lacked suitable nutrition for a prolonged period of weeks."
Chenouf was found guilty, with the court commenting on the distressing nature of the case, stating that such acts 'demonstrate a shocking disregard for an animal's welfare, leading to its untimely death.'
The vet's examination concluded that "The dog was around a year old, weighed less than three stone and was in an emaciated state with a parasitic infection," illustrating the serious repercussions of neglect.
