Philip Griffin, 37, from Kerry, pleaded guilty to manslaughter rather than murder in the case involving the deaths of Anthony and Nadine O'Brien in Tralee.
At the Central Criminal Court, Griffin's plea was accepted, and the prosecution dropped a third charge regarding the alleged arson that led to the fire.
During the hearing, Mr. Justice Paul McDermott called for probation reports and victim impact statements for the upcoming sentencing scheduled for December 16.
