A murder investigation was launched following the discovery of Croatian national Mirjana Pap, who had been reported missing two days earlier from her home in Athlone.
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at a Garda station.
During the investigation, authorities focused on the movements of a silver 08G registered Peugeot 207, which traveled from Athlone to Bealnaulla on the day Ms Pap went missing.
Gardaí confirmed that a post-mortem examination was conducted by Deputy State Pathologist Dr. Yvonne McCarthy, but details of the examination results remain confidential for operational purposes.
