Man, 90, gets evicted as house he bought in 1969 is sold behind his back

Ray Cortez, 90, is fighting eviction from the Brooklyn brownstone he bought in 1969 after falling victim to a deed theft scam in 2006.

Council Member Shahana Hanif stated, 'This is very troubling that our city is allowing this to happen. I call for an expedited investigation and to end the eviction proceedings.'

Assemblywoman Jo Ann Simon remarked, 'He was the victim of an egregious deed theft scam. We believe that because there is ongoing efforts to continue to take his house, this is warranted investigation.'

Ray Cortez Jr. expressed concern over the emotional toll it has taken, saying, 'It broke up the family and it took a tremendous toll on my father and myself.'
