Irish Rail announced on social media that 'All Dart and Northern Commuter services are currently suspended due to a signalling issue.' The company has taken steps to assist affected passengers, stating that Dublin Bus would be accepting valid rail tickets during this interruption. Despite the signalling issue being rectified, significant delays persisted even after services resumed, with Dart services experiencing delays of up to an hour and three quarters, and Northern Commuter services facing delays of 87 minutes.
Following the resolution of the signalling issue, Irish Rail indicated, 'The signalling issue has been resolved, and we are working to move the trains onto platforms.' However, it was noted that passengers would still experience considerable delays even after the services resumed around 8 pm on Thursday. Translink also conveyed the impact on connections, confirming that the 7pm train from Dublin to Belfast would run 18 minutes late, alongside broader delays affecting trains via Newry and Dundalk.
