Madison Keys triumphed over Elina Svitolina, coming back from a set down to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 and advance to her seventh grand slam semi-final at the Australian Open. This victory is part of a remarkable start to her 2025 season, where she is on a winning streak of 10 matches, following her Adelaide Open title. Keys reflected on her evolution as a player, adopting a smarter yet less fearless approach. Her dominant performance featured 49 winners, emphasizing her return to form after struggling with injuries in the previous season.
I think I play a little bit smarter, for sure. Probably a little bit less fearless though. To be here, 10 years later in the semi-finals again, I'm really proud of myself.
Svitolina had started the match in brilliant form...but Keys is one of the biggest ball-strikers in the history of the sport and she is so difficult to stop when in full flow.
I felt like I just had to start playing a little bit more aggressive and try to get to the net a little bit quicker...Luckily I was able to do that.
Keys has started the year performing at an exceptional level...She is now on a 10-match winning streak after claiming the Adelaide Open title.
