Long-awaited Grand Egyptian Museum partially opens-but Tutankhamun Gallery remains closed

The Grand Egyptian Museum's new partial openings display a breadth of artifacts spanning from 700,000 BC to the fourth century AD, showcasing Egypt's rich history.

This impressive museum spans 500,000 sq. m and is positioned adjacent to the Giza pyramids, promising to be the largest archeological museum in the world.

While the soft opening allows for visitor movement mapping, the Tutankhamun Gallery remains closed, contributing to the ongoing anticipation for the full opening.

Construction delays due to political unrest and the pandemic have prolonged the museum's completion since the project announcement in 1992.
