George Paul Bishop, a fugitive child-sex offender, was arrested in California after reportedly working as a journalist under the alias Brody Levesque. Bishop, who was previously sentenced to jail for child pornography offenses, failed to register as a sex offender in 2016, leading to his classification as a fugitive. Police confirmed that Bishop had been living in Capitola with a fake identity while contributing to LGBTQ+ media outlets. His arrest follows a warrant issued in June 2016 for his failing to comply with registration laws.
Bishop was required to register as a tier three sex offender for life in 2016 but failed to do so, leading to him being classified as a fugitive.
Bishop was living and working under the name Brody Levesque, in Santa Cruz County, south of San Francisco, for a number of years.
California's Capitola Police Department released a press statement confirming Bishop's capture based on a federal warrant for failing to register as a violent child-sex offender.
Police captain Leo Moreno stated that Bishop and Levesque were the same person who self-identified as press.
