LG Electronics has announced the recall of around 500,000 ranges sold across the U.S. due to safety concerns, specifically accidental activation of front-mounted knobs. This issue has led to at least 86 reports of unintentional activations, resulting in over 28 fires, some causing extensive property damage and minor injuries. Owners are advised to use a control lock feature and to ensure knobs are turned off when not in use. The ranges, sold from 2015 to January 2025, are available from major retailers like Best Buy and Lowe's. Consumers can receive a warning label from LG to enhance safety.
Consumers are cautioned to keep children and pets away from the knobs, to check the range knobs to ensure they are off before leaving home or going to bed.
