Barking and Dagenham Council, through its regeneration arm Be First and developer Wates, recently celebrated a topping out ceremony for 334 new homes in the Gascoigne neighbourhood. Ninety of these homes are designated for London Affordable Rent, targeting residents on the housing register. Scheduled for completion in early 2026, this project is part of a larger scheme aiming to deliver over 1,500 total homes with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainable living practices, including a district heating system and promoting active travel for residents.
The transformation in the borough over recent years has been phenomenal, and the Gascoigne Neighbourhood has been at the heart of this.
We look forward to welcoming residents to their new homes once this phase is complete.
The new additions... have been designed with energy efficiency in mind, resulting in a 40 per cent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions compared to standard building regulations.
All phases of the Gascoigne scheme adhere to an active travel development strategy, prioritising pedestrians and cyclists to encourage sustainable travel.
