Kia America is recalling 80,255 vehicles, including the 2023-2025 Niro EV, Plug-in Hybrid, and Hybrid models. The recall addresses concerns over damaged floor wiring beneath the front passenger seat that can hinder the proper deployment of airbags and seat belts, as well as cause unintended airbag activation. To resolve these issues, participating dealers will inspect, replace, and reroute the wiring for free, in addition to installing protective covers. Owners will be informed by mail about the recall in March. This follows a prior recall involving Hyundai and Kia regarding electric vehicle charging issues.
