In a surprising development, internationally renowned architect Kengo Kuma has been named the new lead designer for the highly anticipated Global War on Terrorism Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
Kuma, known for his nature-inspired designs, will now lead the effort to create a memorial that honors those who served and sacrificed in the Global War on Terrorism since the September 11 attacks.
According to the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation, Kuma's understanding of the Memorial's importance, along with his collaborative approach, made him the ideal candidate to lead the project.
