Kazakhstan has implemented a continuous video surveillance system in 78 correctional facilities which includes over 39,500 high-definition cameras for improved safety and transparency.
Since the launch of the video surveillance system, over 32,000 violations have been identified, preventing 62 suicides and enhancing the accountability and humane treatment of inmates.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs' video surveillance project not only improves safety but also fosters culture change among staff, ensuring proactive incident management and reducing corruption.
This initiative aligns with global trends focused on rehabilitation, aiming to enhance the physical, psychological, and social conditions of incarcerated individuals.
