Jim Carrey, on his return to playing Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, stated, "I came back to this universe because... I need the money, frankly."

In a previous interview, Carrey expressed a desire to retire, saying, "I really like my quiet life... I have done enough acting and I feel like I have enough."
