Adnan Shabab, owner of Shaku Maku, emphasized the mural's significance, saying, "For us it is a piece of art and we hope that it did not upset anybody." He expressed disappointment over Dublin City Council's request for removal, especially given the painting depicts the suffering of his people.
Shahab noted the tragic context of the mural's creation, stating, "The mural... came at a time when 4,000 innocent children had been killed. Since then it's around 16,000." He highlighted the urgency and importance of recognizing this suffering.
