Mikhail Pichugin survived over 66 days adrift in icy seas, losing 50kg, after setting off with his brother and nephew, who tragically perished.
His wife Yekaterina described his survival as a miracle, noting that despite taking food for just two weeks, Pichugin's 100kg build may have aided his endurance.
Authorities initiated an investigation into safety rule violations regarding the trip, which raises the possibility of Pichugin facing criminal charges.
Pichugin was discovered 1,000km from his starting point, and although he was in stable condition, he suffered from hypothermia after enduring the harsh elements.
