'It could be hanging a picture or unblocking a drain, it just shows that someone cares' - the volunteers who help tenants in independent living
Briefly

Mr Thompson emphasized that even in independent living, many tenants struggle with simple maintenance tasks, stating, 'Most of our residents would not be able to carry out simple tasks like fix up curtains or blinds that have fallen.'
He added, 'These are the kind of small jobs builders don't have time to do and that's where we volunteers come in - usually it's a quick 'simple fix' that sorts the problem.'
Mr Thompson acknowledged the emotional aspect, saying, 'It also shows that help is at hand and someone cares. You really don't have to be that handy to do most things here...'
Regarding the energy project, Mr Thompson mentioned, 'The team is currently looking at upgrading the heating system and at a project that uses solar energy to cut energy costs and reduce the carbon footprint.'
