The Palais de Danse, an important site for Barbara Hepworth, is being transformed into a multifunctional space, further expanding Tate's St Ives offerings and preserving art history.
The former dance hall retains enough evidence of Hepworth's time there to have been granted Grade II-listed status, marking its historical and artistic significance.
The renovation aims not just to make the building safe and accessible but also to preserve Hepworth's traces, emphasizing the importance of her studio practices and legacy.
This capital project, costing £8m, includes creating a permanent exhibition that employs augmented reality to vividly explore Hepworth's creative process and works.
