Indonesia tells Apple it needs to invest more to sell iPhone
Briefly

The Indonesian Ministry of Industry rejected Apple's investment proposal, asserting that it fails to meet local component requirements and other expectations for lifting the iPhone sales ban.
Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita emphasized that Apple's proposal lacked competitiveness against rival brands and did not meet local job creation or revenue expectations.
Despite ranking high in the premium smartphone segment, Apple’s investment offer was viewed as inadequate in a market where the majority cannot afford luxury devices.
The government stressed the importance of adhering to local manufacturing laws, which mandate that at least 40% of smartphone components must be produced domestically.
