Safiya al-Bibissi, an ambulance driver with the Palestinian Red Crescent, states, "Our mission is solely to provide medical aid, and we shouldn't be punished for it... We're targeted all the time; it's psychological destruction."
The Palestinian Red Crescent has reported at least 750 violations against its staff and patients in the West Bank since the war on Gaza began. Al-Bibissi's accounts highlight the growing risks faced by first responders in a conflict zone.
Raghad al-Fanni, a resident of Tulkarem, explains, "I don't think anyone living in this situation can consider themselves free... Now, if you go through a day without feeling the fear of external danger, that in itself is an achievement."
The Israeli military's recent large-scale assaults have exacerbated the already dire situation for Palestinians, as homes, infrastructure, and essential services have been severely damaged, impeding emergency services.
