AeroGarden has announced its intent to discontinue operations beginning January 1, shaking up the smart indoor gardening market and leaving users uncertain about future app support.
With smart features key to AeroGarden's appeal, consumer protection groups are pressing for regulatory guidelines to address concerns over hardware dependent on software that may become unsupported.
While AeroGarden's online store is closing, products and parts will still be available on Amazon until the end of the year, but warranties are changing.
Starting November 1st, new AeroGarden purchases will receive a limited 90-day warranty, in contrast to the standard one-year coverage for existing items.
