The historic Balls Pond Road Cemetery, significant to the Jewish Reform movement, is set for restoration after decades of being closed for burials. With nearly £200,000 from the National Lottery, Islington Council and the West London Synagogue plan to transform the site into a cultural and educational resource. This cemetery, the burial place of many influential Jewish thinkers, seeks to revive and share stories from an important yet often overlooked part of British-Jewish history, emphasizing its cultural value for various communities.
We aim to bring attention to an often-overlooked part of British-Jewish history.
The funding will help bring their stories to life.
This cemetery is the final resting place of influential Jewish thinkers.
The Grade-II listed Balls Pond Road Cemetery is the resting place of many Jewish Reform pioneers.
