Historic 19th century Romford youth house planned to be transformed into housing
Briefly

The redevelopment of the Century Youth House site will include nine residential houses, including a mix of two and three-bedroom family homes, as part of the council's asset disposal strategy.
The planning proposal seeks to protect the historic core of the building erected in the 1800s, retaining and refurbishing it while allowing for modern, energy-efficient family homes.
Councillor Graham Williamson stated, 'Our goal is to create new homes to help meet the housing needs of our residents and we welcome this proposal which is sympathetic to the heritage of the building.'
The proposal includes preserving the 1883 school dedication plaque, while partially demolishing the main building to create four houses, in addition to five new houses.
