Hackers Can Jailbreak Digital License Plates to Make Others Pay Their Tolls and Tickets
Briefly

Josep Rodriguez, a researcher at IOActive, revealed a technique to "jailbreak" digital license plates sold by Reviver, leading to serious privacy and security risks for motorists.
Rodriguez explains, "You can put whatever you want on the screen, which users are not supposed to be able to do. Imagine you are going through a speed camera or if you are a criminal and you don't want to get caught."
The ability to change a digital license plate number instantly poses risks, such as evading tolls or parking tickets and shifting blame to innocent drivers, according to Rodriguez.
Rodriguez warns that with a jailbroken license plate, the user can change their plate to that of another vehicle, resulting in the consequences of traffic violations falling onto that vehicle's driver.
