Greenwich Council's new traffic restrictions aim to reduce through traffic on specific roads during peak hours, enforcing measures using number plate recognition cameras.
The trial will last up to 18 months, and local residents will have a chance to provide feedback within the first six months to assess the scheme's effectiveness.
Councillor Averil Lekau emphasized that initial plans for low traffic neighbourhoods were adjusted after public input, moving from physical barriers to camera enforcement.
Despite some residents supporting the scheme, there are concerns over potential traffic impacts, with one Conservative Councillor claiming the decision was predetermined by the authority.
