The fourth annual Governors Island Ice Sculpture Show is set for February 8, featuring ten talented sculptors engaged in live ice carving. Visitors can witness artists paired with professional carvers from Okamoto Studio, creating works inspired by the theme of Governors Island and nature. Alongside the competition, there will be ice carving workshops, crafts, live music, and food offerings, making it a vibrant cultural event. An awards ceremony will follow the carving, including a People's Choice award voted by the audience.
This year's finalists were chosen during an open call seeking designs inspired by the theme Governors Island + nature, promising a focus on creativity and environmental connection.
We are so excited for these artists to carve their creations to life, and for Island visitors to witness this event in Colonels Row for the fourth year in a row.
