Niclas Füllkrug has had one of the more fascinating careers in recent memory. At almost 30-years-old, his wonder season with Werder Bremen put him on the international stage and impressed enough to not only get a Borussia Dortmund transfer, but even move on to the Premier League.
This is a huge blow for Germany as well, who were likely looking to allow Füllkrug to the striker position in the crucial March fixtures against Italy. For now, West Ham and Germany will need other talent to step up.
The German striker had actually scored twice and provided an assist in very limited minutes for the London club so far in the Premier League. Not a bad haul necessarily, but clearly Füllkrug was eager to make his big impact.
