The GNU Compiler Collection development team has proudly accepted a code patch that re-establishes Linux support for Intel's original 64-bit Itanium chip, expanding options for those still using older hardware.
While GCC 15 will support building programs for Itanium boxes running on Linux, the kernel 6.7 has dropped Itanium support entirely, indicating the limited relevance of newer standards to this architecture.
