The national average price for a gallon of gas is currently $3.03, sitting below $3 in many states, the first such drop since May 2021.
'The national average is tantalizingly close to falling below $3 a gallon, and it could happen in a few days,' said AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross.
Both Ohio and Delaware have the lowest gas prices in the country at an average of $2.89 per gallon, followed by Georgia and Virginia.
When it comes to electric vehicles, AAA reported that the national average for a kilowatt of electricity at a public EV charging station is 34 cents.
