"The discovery was made by a walker and gardai are investigating if the case relates to that of a local woman in her 30s who was reported missing by her family last month. Gardai have contacted the office of the State Pathologist and a post mortem examination is due to be carried out after an initial examination at the scene where the woman's body remained last night. The results of the post mortem will determine the course of the investigation."
"In a statement this morning, gardaí confirmed they are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the woman's body shortly before 3pm yesterday. "The Garda Technical Bureau is currently examining the scene, which remains preserved at this time," it said "The office of the State Pathologist and the local Coroner have been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged. The results of the post-mortem will assist investigating Gardaí in determining the course of the investigation," it added."
A woman's body was discovered shortly before 3pm by a walker in a roadside drain. Gardaí are investigating whether the death relates to a local woman in her 30s reported missing by her family last month. Gardai contacted the office of the State Pathologist and the local Coroner; an initial examination took place at the scene and the body remained overnight. The Garda Technical Bureau is examining the preserved scene. A post-mortem examination will be arranged and its results will determine the course of the investigation. Local searches and an earlier appeal had taken place during the missing-person inquiry.
