Gardai confirm 'no ongoing risk to public', as they investigate threatening email which led to Co Clare school closures

Gardaí in Co Clare investigated a threatening email sent to multiple schools, leading to temporary closures for safety. After assessing the situation, they confirmed at 10 am that the threat was not credible and there was no ongoing risk to the public. Sinn Féin TD Donna McGettigan highlighted the fear experienced by parents and students. She expressed a desire for support mechanisms for students facing anxiety from the incident, labeling the situation as alarming and distressing for the community.

Gardaí confirmed that ‘following initial assessment, An Garda Síochána is satisfied that the security threat is not credible and there is no ongoing risk to the public.’

Sinn Féin TD Donna McGettigan characterized the incident as ‘something you only hear about in America’ and expressed concern over the anxiety it caused among parents and children.
